In the early 19th century, the first rum's produced in Antigua were concocted by individual estate owners using crude "Pot Stills" to make their home brews. But even in those rollicking days, Antigua Rum was known for its lightness and rather elegant flavour.

With the demise of rum production on the estates in the early 20th century, the trade shifted to individual rum shops whose owners concocted their own blends and sold them under colourful names like Red Cock, House and Silver Leaf. In 1932 a number of these rum shop owners joined together to form the Antigua Distillery Ltd.

In the early days the company sold two types of rum and an aged "mature" rum known as Caballero Rum. In 1934 the Company purchased a number of estates and a sugar factory and began to produce its own molasses. The factory produced a very high quality and distinctive grocery sugar known as Mucovado.

Antigua Distillery has long been the Premium Distiller of fine rums in The Leeward islands. As we move into the new century we are committed to maintaining the high standards production and packaging that have been developed over recent decades.

ENGLISH HARBOUR RUM is considered by many experts to be one of the finest blends of both Dark and Light Rum distilled in the Caribbean today, benefiting from multiple awards. In 2006, Forbes Magazine voted English Harbour Rum one of the ten most remarkable rums.

English Harbour 10 Year Old Rum

Lightly heavier in flavour and taste than the five year old rum. Initially soft and closed. The smoky oak flavours are well balanced with citrus, dried fruits, vanilla and burnt sugar notes. Coconut, cinnamon and tropical florals on the aroma prepare you for butterscotch in the initial taste followed by a touch of thick coffee and baked apple in the viscous mouth feel.

Smoky cedar in the body lasts through the finish and opens beautifully revealing hints of spice - cardamom, menthol, rosemary, caramel and ripe blackberries. Goods not received. Waited in all day. Royal Mail tracked 48 hours delivery. I'd advise anyone else not to choose Royal Mail, who don't do what they've undertaken to do, or you'll have a completely wasted day.
