The Monymusk Estate is one of the oldest sugar estates in Jamaica, dating back to 1755. Monymusk has been distilling rum and supplying the bulk market with many different Marks for many years.
A few years ago Monymusk benefited from the introduction of brand new stills and decided to enter the market with their own range of products.
A blend of pot and column still rums, along with long fermentation gives these rums a unique character. An aromatic and typical Jamaican nose is rounded off by a distinctively smooth taste, a testament to the wonderful skills of the experienced master blender.
Monymusk Classic Gold Rum is a blend of medium aged rums, presented at 40% ABV. The rum is non-chill filtered to help retain more of its flavour, hence it can appear to be a little cloudy when below room temperature. The rum is presented in a stubby bottle with a cork top. The aroma is of a typical Jamaican pot still rum, a rich bouquet with notes of spice and fruit. The palate is rather delicate, making it quite unusual for a Jamaican rum. The initial taste is spicy on the front palate, developing into tropical fruit on the mid-palate with a smooth long dry finish. A truly unusual but impressive rum perfectly suited for cocktails and sipping.
