From the Cihuatan valley in El Salvador come the closely guarded secrets and legends which are now revealed through the aged Indigo rum to those curious spirits with a thirst to explore.
Cihuatan Cinabrio is a rum crafted as an homage to Kinich Ahau, Mayan god of the sun. The name "Cinabrio" is inspired by the colour red, which was crafted by the ancient Maya using the mineral Cinabrio (cinnabar). Red is Tlaloc's sacred colour and regarded as a good omen.
The rum is aged for 12 years in American Oak ex-bourbon barrels.
What do we think:
The nose is fruity and nutty. The palate is warm, with notes of plum, dark chocolate, pistachio with hints of vanilla with a smooth, long toasty oak finish.
