From the Cihuatan valley in El Salvador come the closely guarded secrets and legends which are now revealed through the aged Indigo rum to those curious spirits with a thirst to explore.
Cihuatan Indigo is a rum crafted as an homage to Tlaloc, Mayan god of rain. The name "Indigo" is inspired by the colour blue, which was crafted by the ancient Maya using the Indigo flower (annil). Blue is Tlaloc's sacred colour and a symbol of El salvador.
The rum is aged for 8 years in American Oak ex-bourbon barrels.
What do we think:
It is a really good rum with hints of vanilla and hazelnut on the nose. The palate is smooth, with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, hazelnut coming through with hints of Cappuccino and Lemongrass and a smooth finish.
As a bonus it is an amazing designed/labeled bottle with great looking Gift Box.
Origin: Product of El Salvador ABV: 40% Proof: 80° Size: 70cl/700ml Allergen: NA
The rum arrived but the outer box was damaged, all squashed and crumpled. It wasn't DHL responsible for this it was due to the rum / box being squashed down to fit inside it's protective packaging / vacuumed packet that is clearly too small. Not ideal when giving as a birthday gift and when I've paid for delivery !
