Bottled at a 47% ABV, Veritas has foregone with filtration and additives and instead showcases the quality of the production, letting the quality of the rum shine through. On the nose buttercream icing, banana cream, Golden Delicious apples and dried pineapple. Fresh and intensely fruity with a background of whipped cream. Spicy and oily notes develop, along with green leaves. The palalte is soft, sweet and fruity. The pineapple from the nose returns, along with freshly sliced pineapple, overripe bananas, white-wine-poached pears, pear drops and white chocolate. Darker notes of warm engines, liquorice, clove and woody spice develops. A buttery to start, with dark caramel and clove building slowly. Butterscotch and mint linger finish. William Hinton 3 Years Old Agricole Rum 70clWilliam Hinton Rum "Maidera's Lost Spirit" from the William Hinton Distillery - Engenho Novo da Madeira Made from freshly press sugar cane juice, this very particular rum whose genesis resulted from the selection of the best sugar cane that Madeira Island has to offer. Its juice was subjected to a special process of prolonged fermentation and aged in French oak barrels. On the nose, oak, caramel and vanilla are prominent. In the mouth, definite notes of oak, mellows to a sweet, long finish of vanilla. Bottled at 40%, this adds to the smoothness of this rum with its nutty and toffee sweetness.
